Applying to the Honors College

We welcome students to apply for the Honors College – a small community of scholars seeking a rigorous curriculum and leadership opportunities leading to top-tier transfer opportunities.

Applications

Applicants must complete the college's general application and Honors College Supplemental Application. Applications will be reviewed until available seats are filled. 

Eligibility Requirements

Acceptance to the Honors College is competitive. The program is designed for students with strong high school academic records and participation in extracurricular activities, preferably with leadership experience.

Applicants must be first-time college students. First-generation students and individuals from historically underserved communities are encouraged to apply. Hudson Valley is fully committed to the Honors College being reflective of the community we serve. Our diverse student body will be one where students feel included and encouraged to discover their amazing talents.

For the Fall 2024 cohort, applicants must have completed high school or homeschooling in 2022, 2023 or 2024.

Students applying to the Honors College must:

  • Pursue an A.A. or A.S. degree in designated college programs
  • Achieve a strong academic record (recommended minimum cumulative high school average of 90 as documented on a high school transcript)
  • Intend to transfer to a four-year institution
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from an administrator, counselor, faculty member or community leader 
  • Offer a written statement highlighting academic and extracurricular accomplishments and reflecting on the unique value of an honors education
  • Participate in a roundtable interview if selected
