Patient Care Associate (PCA)

Person in scrubs speaking with a patient in a hospital room.The Patient Care Associate (PCA) training program prepares individuals for entry-level patient care roles in health care. The program provides foundational instruction in the following areas:

Training includes classroom instruction, demonstrations, hands-on skills practice and competency evaluations designed to prepare participants to provide safe, compassionate and effective patient care in a healthcare setting. Upon successful completion of the program, participants may be eligible for employment opportunities at Albany Med Health System or with other health care providers.

According to the New York State Department of Labor, employment opportunities for Patient Care Associates (PCAs) are projected to grow by 30.6% over the next six years.

What do I need to get started?

To enter the program, a qualifying score on the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) is required. Contact the EOC and start working toward your goal today.
