UAA Programs and Classes
The Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) at Hudson Valley welcomed its first cohort of students in the spring of 2024 for a successful pilot program and is expanding its program offerings.
Examples of UAA Classes
Students in the UAA program take a combination of credit and non‑credit courses that build foundational and advanced skills in machining, measurement, programming and workplace readiness. Examples include:
Credit Courses
- FORM 101 – College Forum (1 credit)
- Physical Education/Gym Course (1 credit)
- MATH 105 – Applied Technical Math or a similar math course (3 credits)
- MFTS 214 – Advanced Dimensional Metrology (3 credits)
- MFTS 221 – Numerical Control Programming (3 credits)
- Additional relevant electives may also be selected based on student interests and goals.
Non‑Credit Instruction
- UAA Soft Skills Instruction
- UAA Machine Shop with Mastercam Instruction
Manufacturing Internship
All students participate in a hands‑on internship with a local machining or manufacturing partner.
Internships:
- Last up to eight weeks
- Provide real‑world experience in machining and manufacturing settings
- Offer the potential for full‑time employment following completion
