CASAC-T Educational Core I (Microcredential)

The CASAC-T (Credential for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling-Trainee) is the recognized credential for those who wish to work in New York State as a substance abuse counselor.

CASAC-T Educational Core I microcredential coursework is intended to provide the beginning pre-requisite courses for individuals looking to acquire their CASAC-T and who have an existing degree in a relevant field.

Prospective students do not need to be employed in the field.

Credits earned in this microcredential are stackable to the following programs:

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to describe/explain the consequences of chemical abuse and dependency on individuals, families and society. In addition to acquiring this knowledge, students will be able to explain basic information about the pharmacology of chemicals.
