Sara Donnelly, LMHC
Interim Director of Counseling Services
Sara holds a master’s degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from Sage Graduate School and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. With 15 years of experience in higher education and mental health counseling, Sara is passionate about helping students navigate life’s challenges and achieve both their mental health and academic goals.
As Interim Director of Counseling Services, Sara oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the department, providing leadership and guidance to the counseling staff. In this role, she aims to maintain continuity of services while guiding the department through a period of transition and growth.
Kevin Schlicht, MHC-LP
Mental Health Counselor / Outreach Coordinator
Kevin received his undergraduate degree from Siena College and earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of Saint Rose. He first joined Hudson Valley Community College as a graduate intern before becoming a full-time member of the Counseling Services team in fall 2022.
As Outreach Coordinator, Kevin enjoys developing wellness programming and believes that all students can benefit from support—not just those who visit the Wellness Center. His theoretical orientation is rooted in strengths-based approaches, with a strong focus on cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapy. Kevin is passionate about combating negative self-talk and building self-esteem among students. He truly enjoys helping students discover their authentic selves and learn to advocate for their needs in relationships with others.
Kathleen Collins, MHC-LP
Mental Health Counselor / Student Development Specialist
Kathleen earned her bachelor’s degree from Siena College and completed her master’s degree in Counseling and Community Psychology at Russell Sage College. While completing her graduate studies, she interned in HVCC’s Counseling Services office, where she was drawn to the college’s diverse and close-knit community.
After completing her internship, Kathleen was thrilled to return to Hudson Valley as a full-time member of the Counseling Services team. As a Counselor in the Wellness Center, she provides mental health care and community resources to students in a safe, calming, and supportive environment. Kathleen helps students manage personal and academic stressors, offering self-care strategies and skill-building techniques to foster resilience.
As Student Development Specialist, Kathleen facilitates communication between Counseling Services and other departments across campus to better serve HVCC students. Her goal is to cultivate a positive climate for mental health awareness and overall student wellness.
Mark Tallarino
Program Assistant
As Program Assistant in the Wellness Center, Mark is often the first person students and visitors meet when they call or visit the office. He assists with scheduling appointments, answering questions, and connecting students to staff and campus resources. Mark is dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment, ensuring that everyone who reaches out to Counseling Services feels comfortable and cared for.
