This degree program gives you a strong foundation to prepare for a career in alcohol and substance abuse counseling and coursework is designed to meet application requirements for the Credential in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC), which is administered by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

The program does not prepare students for practice outside the regulations of a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) as defined by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation. Transfer agreements exist for those who wish to continue their education at a four-year college or university.

This program is offered by the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling Department. The department also offers a Chemical Dependency Counseling certificate program for those are already working in the field who may have completed an associate or bachelor's degree but need to obtain their CASAC.
