Medical Billing & Coding Voucher Included

More than one million practicing physicians in the United States rely on medical billers and coders to receive payment for their services.  Besides medical facilities, positions are available with health insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, medical suppliers, consulting firms, and national medical coding and billing companies, so the opportunities are nearly endless!  

Medical billers and coders are in high demand. This course offers valuable training in legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts central to this field, including HIPAA compliance, official coding guidelines, and third-party payer requirements.  You will also come to understand all phases of the revenue cycle—from patient registration through medical coding, claims submission, reimbursement, and collections. You will also learn common medical terminology to help you converse with others in healthcare easily and with confidence. You will study word parts and the structures and functions of the human body.  Also presented are the disorders and medical procedures common to each body system, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, integumentary, genitourinary, lymphatic, and immune.

After successfully completing the course requirements, you should be well prepared to find your place in this rewarding healthcare career.  You will receive a Certificate of Completion from the school through which you enrolled, and you will also be able to choose a voucher for the professional certification that best aligns with your interests and career goals.

This course is taught online through our partnership with Ed2go. You may enroll at anytime. Students have 12 month to complete the program. Login information will be emailed to you 2 -3 days after registering.

NYS Real Estate 75 Hour Salesperson Licensing Course

If you are interested in becoming a licensed New York State real estate salesperson, this is the course for you. In order to become a licensed New York State real estate salesperson, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Be a United States citizen or be a legal, permanent resident

• Have no felony convictions (contact New York Department of State for clarification)

• Complete the 75-hour licensing course

• Pass the New York Department of State salesperson licensing exam

• Have a sponsoring New York State broker (you do not need a sponsoring broker to take the 75 hour course or the exams, but must have one when applying for your license).

• Apply for a salesperson license

Course topics include license law and regulations, law of agency, legal issues, contract of sales and leases, real estate finance, land use regulations, construction and environmental issues, valuation process and pricing properties, human rights and fair housing, real estate mathematics, municipal agencies, property insurance, licensee safety, taxes and assessments, condominiums and cooperatives, commercial and investment properties, income tax issues in real estate transactions, mortgage brokerage and property management. 

Course fee includes the required textbook.  Students can pick up the textbook by calling The Greater Capital Association of Realtors (GCAR) at 518-464-0191. An optional study guide “Cram for the Exam” is also available through GCAR for approximately $30.

The course will be conducted via Zoom. In order to receive credit for the course, students must be visible via video during class and engaged in learning via chat, breakouts, etc. Students must complete 90% of the class time to receive credit for the course. All registration or withdrawals must be completed by July 2nd.  Registrations will b accepted after July 2nd if space allows.  Final exam will be held in-person.

Paralegal Certificate Course

This intensive, nationally-acclaimed program is designed for beginning and advanced legal workers. You will be trained to assist trial attorneys, interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates to those areas of the law in which legal assistants are in most demand. The online paralegal course is split into two parts: Introduction to Paralegal Studies and Advanced Paralegal Concepts. All registered students will be enrolled in both sections, which will be completed consecutively. Introduction to Paralegal Studies provides the foundation for paralegal study. During the seven-week course, you will gain an understanding of the American legal system and learn how you can be of assistance in the exciting field of law. Coursework is equivalent to 45 class hours of study. Advanced Paralegal Concepts takes over where the introduction leaves off. In this seven-week course, you will learn the advanced skills of legal research and writing, formal and informal advocacy, and appellate procedure. Coursework in the advanced course is equivalent to an additional 45 class hours of study. This is an accelerated course. While there are no prerequisites, you will be expected to complete a significant amount of homework and you can anticipate spending an average of 12 hours per week reading and completing writing assignments. Successful graduates of this program will be awarded a certificate of completion. To receive the certificate, you must pass six quizzes and successfully complete five legal document writing assignments. 8.4 CEUs Please note: paid access to the Westlaw online legal library is offered through the Center for Legal Studies and is strongly recommended to complete the second part of the course. Students have access to Westlaw at Hudson Valley Community College while on campus. Textbooks that accompany the instruction of this course are available for purchase in the college’s bookstore or through the Center for Legal Studies at (800) 522-7737.

Pet CPR and First Aid

Pet Education Certificate

The Pet Education Certificate course offers a variety of resources to help begin or enhance your career working with animals, including but not limited to pet sitting, kennel work, daycare, training, working for a veterinarian and other animal-related fields. Topics include pet health and illness, communication, basic hygiene for pets, and even writing a resume and preparing for an interview. In order to successfully complete this program and be eligible for a certificate, you must successfully complete the online course, complete a pet First Aid/CPR class and complete at least 100 hours of internships at an approved animal care facility within six months of the end of the course. 11.8 CEUs Times available for internships are at the discretion of the animal care facility. Weekend and evening schedules may not be able to be accommodated.

Veterinary Assistant

Do you love animals? Have you ever thought about a career as a veterinary assistant? This intensive course will provide the information you need to become a productive member of a veterinary team. The course is designed for people who want to work as veterinary assistants at veterinary hospitals and for those already employed in related positions. The course covers all the requirements that hospitals and veterinarians’ offices look for, and more! You’ll learn about every aspect of veterinary assisting, including anatomy and physiology, animal restraint, laboratory sample collection, assisting in surgery and dentistry, prescription preparation, and taking radiographs. You’ll also learn how to interact professionally with clients and gain the expertise you need to educate them about key topics in pet care, such as nutrition, vaccinations, and administering medication. The course concludes with a lesson to prepare you for the job market, in which you’ll see how to create an effective resume, advance your expertise, and develop strong interview skills. You will truly learn everything you need to know to be successful in your new career. This course is 225 hours and students will receive 22.5 CEUs upon completion of the course. All materials and book are included.
