Jump-Start Your College Journey: Summer 2026 Courses and Scholarship Opportunities for High School Students

April 15, 2026

This summer, Hudson Valley Community College will offer nearly 85 college-level courses for rising high school juniors and seniors through the College in the High School program. Taught by Hudson Valley faculty, these courses give students the opportunity to earn college credit and get a head start on their college journey.

Scholarships covering tuition for one course (up to four credits) are available for students who attend high schools within Hudson Valley Community College’s service area or reside in Albany, Rensselaer, or southern Saratoga counties; homeschooled students within this area also qualify. Students, including homeschooled students, residing outside of the college’s service area can enroll at a reduced rate of $70 per credit, which is one third of the standard tuition rate. Some classes may require the purchase of additional course materials, such as textbooks, which all students will be responsible for.

Summer 2026 offerings include courses in art, business, biology, chemistry, computer science, criminal justice, engineering, economics, education, English, health, history, math, physical education, political science, psychology, sociology and Spanish.

The majority of this summer’s College in the High School courses will be offered in an online or remote learning format. Additional courses will be taught in person on Hudson Valley’s campus in Troy, at LaSalle Institute, and at Troy High School. Session dates are July 6 through Aug. 13, 2026.

College in the High School students also can access webinars and workshops covering enrollment, course tips and student account setup.

“We are pleased to offer our local high school students the chance to get an early start on their college studies through the College in the High School program,” said Hudson Valley Community College President Michael Brophy. “This is an excellent opportunity for students to explore subjects they’re interested in at an affordable rate while jump-starting their college career.”

The College in the High School program has offered hundreds of college-level, credit-bearing courses to nearly 40 partner high schools and school districts for decades.
