George Raneri Named Chairperson of Applied Technologies Department

George Raneri was recently named the department chairperson of the Applied Technologies Department at Hudson Valley Community College.

In his new role, Raneri oversees 12 degree and certificate programs: Automotive Management AAS; Automotive Technical Services AOS; Collision Repair Certificate; Collision Repair Technology AOS; Clean Energy Management AAS; Electric and Autonomous Vehicles AOS and Certificate; Electrical Construction and Maintenance AOS; Heating/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technical Services AOS; Honda PACT AOS; Mechatronics AOS; and Overhead Electric Line Worker Certificate.

A Hudson Valley alumnus, Raneri has spent 30 years as an instructor in the college’s Automotive Department. He holds a Master of Divinity from Northeastern Seminary; a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Studio Art from SUNY Potsdam; and associate degrees in Automotive Technical Services AOS, and Automotive Technical Services – Autobody Repair AOS from Hudson Valley.

The department, previously known as the Department of Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies, was led by Raneri from 2019-2022. He returns to the role as the college prepares for the opening of the Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC), a 125,000-square-foot facility scheduled to open in 2027. The new facility will bring the college’s applied technology and skilled trades programs together in a state-of-the-art space designed to expand hands-on learning and prepare students for careers in high-demand fields.
