Hudson Valley Students Honored at Foundation Scholarship Celebration
May 19, 2026
The annual Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Scholarship Celebration was held on Friday, May 8, 2026. The ceremony formally recognized students who were awarded scholarships by the Foundation during the 2025-26 academic year, during which time the Foundation provided scholarships and awards totaling $657,724 to 368 students.
More than 150 donors, students, family and friends attended the celebratory luncheon and heard remarks from college and Foundation officials, as well as students who shared stories of the positive impact of the scholarships and awards they received.
“The scholarships that are awarded through the HVCC Foundation are given to lend a hand, to support and encourage our students towards success,” said Foundation Executive Director Casey Crandall in his remarks at the ceremony. “Many of our scholarships are intended to inspire and empower students on a given career path. Many are also given in honor of, or in memory of, a special person – someone who made a difference at HVCC and within our broader community. All of our scholarships provide a lasting legacy that lives on in our students as they go forward to shape a better future.”
In thanking the donors that were in attendance at the ceremony, President Michael Brophy remarked, “For some students, scholarships are the difference between finishing their degree or having to sacrifice continuing their studies to make ends meet. For others, they are what makes the decision to pursue higher education possible in the first place. No matter what, they make a difference for all those who receive them.”
Each academic year, the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation offers scholarship opportunities that make a college degree even more affordable. Scholarships are sometimes designated for students in a particular academic program or from a certain geographic area. Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the Foundation is always expanding scholarship opportunities.
