April 21, 2026

On Friday, April 24, more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities across the state will share their scientific research during the fourth annual Capital Region STEM Poster Showcase. The event will take place in Hudson Valley Community College’s McDonough Sports Complex from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Community members, faculty, staff and local high school and college students are invited to explore a variety of STEM topics as the participants showcase their knowledge and research. Industry professionals will also be on site to share their experiences and offer valuable insights on career opportunities and trends in the fields of STEM. Students’ posters will be professionally judged by industry and college representatives.

During the event, Dr. Robert Geer, vice president of Education and Workforce Development at NY Creates, will deliver a keynote address on industry and workforce trends shaping the Capital Region. NY Creates is a world-leading R&D innovation hub and commercialization facilitator in advanced digital, analog and power technologies. The organization serves as a resource for public-private and academic partnerships within New York State to create and lead industry connected innovation and commercialization projects that attract investment and create growth in high technology jobs.

According to the American Association for the Advancement of Science, STEM occupations currently represent 34% of the U.S. workforce.

“We are thrilled to provide this platform for the next generation of bright young scientists to showcase their work and connect with industry leaders who are shaping the future of science and technology in our region,” said Dr. Donna Barron, professor and biotechnology program coordinator at Hudson Valley Community College. “This event is an excellent opportunity to foster collaboration between academia and industry, and we look forward to the exciting discussions that will take place.”

This event is sponsored by Hudson Valley Community College, Regeneron and GlobalFoundries.
