Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in higher education, serving nearly 1,300 community colleges in all 50 states and nine countries. The organization recognizes academic excellence and offers students opportunities for community service, professional development, scholarships, events and other resources. Members must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average.

The college’s Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has earned recognition as a Five Star Chapter each of the past three years. Five-star designation recognizes local chapters with the highest level of success in campus and community engagement activities throughout an academic year.

“I was delighted to welcome this year’s incoming class of Alpha Xi Sigma members, whose academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service strengthen our campus community,” said Hudson Valley President Michael Brophy. “Heartfelt congratulations to each of our students who joined our PTK Alpha Xi Sigma chapter. Their induction is not only a recognition of their hard work and perseverance, but also an invitation to continue striving for intellectual curiosity, civic engagement and personal growth.”

The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter was established in 1988 and is home to more than 5,894 members and alumni.
