Teaching Gallery Exhibit Features Work by Fine Arts and Digital Media Faculty Members

The biannual Fine Arts and Digital Media Faculty Exhibit, featuring work by 14 full- and part-time faculty members, will be on view from Thursday, Nov. 6 to Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College. All are invited to an opening reception on Nov. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Works on view will include installation, painting, photography, videography and motion graphics. Participating artists are Alison Bachoric, Justin Baker, Ryan Chase Clow, Milt Connors, Tara Fracalossi, Kyra Garrigue, Richard Garrison, William Jaeger, Thomas Lail, Arnela Mahmutovic, Ryan Parr, GG Roberts, Andrew Sober and Jason Kates van Staveren. 

Gallery hours:
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wednesday: Noon – 7 p.m.
Saturday: Noon – 4 p.m.
Sunday and Monday: Closed 

This year’s exhibit will also feature artist talks from five of the participating artists, including Kyra Garrigue on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium; Jason Kates van Staveren and Justin Baker on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium; and Thomas Lail and Tara Fracalossi on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Siek Campus Center, room 204. 

Exhibitions in the Teaching Gallery, located on the ground floor of the Administration Building, are installed and assisted by students enrolled in Gallery Management courses. This exhibit is supported by the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media, the college’s Cultural Affairs Program and the Foundation, which funds receptions through the Steven L. Hyatt Memorial Fund. Tara Fracalossi, an artist and Hudson Valley professor, is the Teaching Gallery’s founding director. For more information, visit www.hvcc.edu/teachinggallery

In conjunction with the exhibition, Fine Arts Professor Thomas Lail also organized “In-Process: Studies, Sketches & Preliminaries by Digital Media and Fine Arts Faculty,” an exhibition of studies in ProjectSpace 320. Created by Lail, ProjectSpace 320 is a less-formal gallery space that showcases smaller exhibits and projects, located in Amstuz Hall, room 320, adjacent to the drawing and painting studios.

Hudson Valley’s Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media Department offers broad-based programs to expand higher education in the arts and related fields. Programs include Digital Media A.S., Digital Media Certificate, Fine Arts A.S., Media Studies A.A. and Theatre Arts A.S.
