September 10, 2025

Hudson Valley Community College has announced a transformative $500,000 donation from Regeneron to enhance its STEM and biotechnology programs. This donation to the college’s Foundation will support several key initiatives, including the creation of the Regeneron Biotechnology Lab, the expansion of STEM-based workforce development opportunities and the construction of the Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC) on campus.
The donation underscores Regeneron’s commitment to advancing biotechnology education and workforce readiness in the Capital Region. By providing state-of-the-art technology, supporting curriculum development and funding targeted community outreach efforts, this investment will help prepare students for high-demand careers and foster industry-academic collaboration that benefits both students and the local economy.
“We are deeply grateful to Regeneron for their generous donation to our Foundation and their continued partnership with the college,” said Dr. Michael Brophy, President of Hudson Valley Community College. “Regeneron’s investment ensures that the college remains at the cutting edge of biotechnology education and workforce development. It bolsters our community outreach activities and strengthens the vital link between classroom learning and industry, empowering the next generation of scientists, researchers, and innovators to make a lasting impact.”
As part of the gift, Regeneron is sponsoring a dedicated lab space on the Hudson Valley campus that will be used by both college faculty and students and local high school students involved in STEM outreach programs. The lab will also play a key role in programs like the STEM Academy at Troy High School, giving students valuable hands-on experience in biotechnology.
This gift is part of Regeneron’s ongoing commitment to supporting STEM education and career development in the region. The Regeneron Biotechnology Lab will provide students with hands-on experience using cutting-edge tools and techniques found in the biotech industry. In addition, the donation will fund curriculum development, lab equipment and career engagement initiatives, such as internships, co-ops, mentorship programs and recruitment events.
“Regeneron is proud to expand our partnership with Hudson Valley Community College, investing $500,000 to strengthen STEM education and career pathways in biotechnology,” said Matt Blizinski, Regeneron Senior Director of Biotech Production. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to supporting local communities and expanding access to real-world opportunities—from internships and mentorships to curriculum development and dedicated lab space. Together, we’re helping students build meaningful careers and growing a sustainable biotech talent pipeline in the Capital Region.”
“When education and industry come together with a shared vision, incredible things happen,” said Dr. Donna Barron, Faculty Coordinator of the Biotechnology Program at Hudson Valley. “Regeneron has been an extraordinary partner, ensuring that our students’ lab experiences reflect the challenges and opportunities they’ll face in the industry. This partnership not only creates pathways to good-paying jobs but also strengthens our community and inspires the next generation of innovators.”
Regeneron’s $500,000 investment is part of its broader commitment to supporting STEM education and workforce development in the Capital Region. The gift will help HVCC continue to provide students with a clear, supported pathway from education to employment, including opportunities for hands-on experience and career development.
