Electric Vehicle Showcase Held at HVCC North
September 17, 2025

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Hudson Valley Community College partnered with Sustainable Saratoga to host the inaugural Electrical Vehicle Car Show at HVCC North, the college’s branch campus in Malta, NY.
The free event provided EV owners, car enthusiasts, and community members curious about sustainable technology with an opportunity to view a wide variety of electric vehicles and speak directly with industry vendors at informational tables. It coincided with National Drive Electric Month, a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles and more.
“We’re excited to partner with HVCC North on this first-ever EV Car Show event,” said Chair of the Climate & Energy Committee at Sustainable Saratoga David Washburn. “In the past, the EV Car Show was part of our Sustainability Fair in April, but advancements in technology and community interest have warranted this becoming its own event. And our partnership with HVCC North at their Training and Education Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing and Alternative and Renewable Technologies (TEC-SMART) is a natural.”
“By showcasing electric vehicles and clean technologies at the EV Car Show, we’re empowering our students and community to imagine a greener future,” said Hudson Valley Community College President Michael Brophy. “As the EV industry expands and demand for skilled technicians grows, Hudson Valley is proud to offer degree and certificate programs in Electric and Autonomous Vehicles. These programs equip our students with the expertise to diagnose and repair electric and hybrid vehicles. We are also excited to partner with Sustainable Saratoga to spotlight the future of transportation at HVCC North.”
Hudson Valley offers a two-year Associate in Occupational Studies (A.O.S.) degree in Electric and Autonomous Vehicles, as well as a one-year certificate program in Electric and Autonomous Vehicles—both designed to equip students with the hands-on skills needed to enter the EV repair field immediately after graduation. Demand for skilled EV technicians is rising rapidly: according to Kelley Blue Book, more than 1.3 million electric vehicles were sold in the U.S. in 2024.
