Hudson Valley campus in winter

Students interested in taking a nine-day winter session course at Hudson Valley Community College will again have an added incentive this year: free textbooks.

Winter session courses compress a full semester’s worth of material into an accelerated term that runs from Jan. 2 through Jan. 12, 2024. These intensive courses are for committed students who wish to get ahead during the break between semesters.

“We understand that many students get ahead during the winter break, but struggle with the cost of higher education,” said Hudson Valley President Roger Ramsammy. “By covering the cost of their textbooks, we hope to help students stay on track and advance their goals in a short period of time.”

In all, 21 credit-bearing winter session courses are available for current, transfer or new students. Courses include, among others, Computer Concepts and Applications I, Personal Finance, Public Speaking, Interpretations of American History I, Principles of Marketing, Essentials of Chemistry, Introduction to Criminal Justice, The Short Story, and Nutrition.

Most courses are being offered completely online, however some are held on-campus or in a hybrid format. More details about course offerings and registration can be found on the college’s Winter Classes webpage.

For additional information about taking a winter session course, current students may contact their academic advisor. New students should contact Continuing Education.
