Seventh and eighth grade students from Lansingburgh and Troy schools recently unveiled their STEM projects after a week-long camp hosted by Questar III BOCES and Hudson Valley Community College.

For the past three years, Questar III BOCES, through support from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, has hosted a STEM Camp offered to seventh and eighth grade students from the two school districts. This year, the partnership was expanded, and Questar III’s STEM High School and Hudson Valley Community College hosted campers for a weeklong, half-day camp, using science, technology, engineering, and math to dive into the mechanics of flight, programming, biological cellular activity, discovery of lunar surfaces, building craters and more. On August 11, the last day of camp, students showcased their projects to Regeneron employees and their families.

“It’s rewarding to observe students having fun while engaging in activities that spark creativity and broaden horizons in the world of STEM,” said Jim Church, director of strategic initiatives at Questar III BOCES. “The collaboration between Questar III’s STEM High School and Hudson Valley Community College and the generous sponsorship from Regeneron has allowed us to provide these young campers with an unforgettable summer learning experience.”

“Hudson Valley is thrilled to provide new and growing opportunities for young students interested in STEM fields,” said Hudson Valley Community College President Roger Ramsammy. “And, we are so proud to again partner with Questar III and Regeneron to bring another fun and engaging program to the college this summer so local students can gain hands-on experience and increased opportunities to learn about future career pathways.”
