College Again Offers Free Textbooks for Students During Winter Session

November 14, 2022

Students interested in taking a nine-day winter session course at Hudson Valley Community College will again have an added incentive this year: free textbooks.

Winter session courses compress a full semester’s worth of material into an accelerated term that runs from Jan. 3 through Jan. 13. These intensive courses are for committed students who wish to get ahead during the break between semesters.

“Many students want to earn college credit during the winter break. Covering the cost of their textbooks is one way we can help,” said Hudson Valley President Roger A. Ramsammy.  “We hope these intensive winter session courses can help students stay on track to achieve their higher education goals.”

In all, 20 winter session courses are available for current or new students. Courses include, among others, Nutrition, Public Speaking, Computer Concepts and Applications, Principles of Marketing, General Psychology, Personal Finance, Business Law, American History, and Introduction to Criminal Law.

Most courses are being offered in a completely online format but several will have on-campus components as well. More information can be found on the college’s website.

For more information about taking a winter session course, current students may contact their academic advisor. New students should contact Continuing Education.
