Living Resources Corporation and Hudson Valley Community College have established a new partnership that will bring Living Resources’ “CareerNext” Program to the college and increase access and support for students with disabilities. The program is set to begin in the Fall 2022 semester.

Living Resources, an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities, expanded higher education opportunities for students with the creation of its CareerNext Program in 2019. This unique college support program is designed specifically to help students with autism and learning differences obtain an accredited degree and live independently after completion of the program.

Hudson Valley currently serves more than 600 students with learning and physical disabilities, and its Center for Access and Assistive Technology provides dedicated staff, programs and infrastructure to ensure students are able to meet their personal, education and career goals. The CareerNext Program on campus expects to serve up to an additional 40 students.

“CareerNext provides personalized academic and executive functioning supports to students helping them to achieve their educational goals. With nearly 20 students currently enrolled in existing programs, this expansion at Hudson Valley Community College allows us to increase our enrollment and ensure that our students are provided with a variety of educational resources and opportunities to choose from,” said Elizabeth Martin, CEO of Living Resources.

“For decades, Hudson Valley’s faculty and staff have supported thousands of students with disabilities and helped them to advance and fulfill their personal, college and career goals. Now, our new partnership with Living Resources continues that proud tradition and promises to enhance the level of support and resources that dozens of new students will receive through the CareerNext Program. We are proud to offer this new opportunity and provide a higher level of college access and student support to our community,” said Roger Ramsammy, President of Hudson Valley Community College.

“Obtaining a college degree isn’t easy, especially for non-traditional learners, which is where our CareerNext program comes in. We are sincerely grateful to President Ramsammy and his dedicated team, for working with us to provide our students a life filled with education, opportunities, dignity, happiness, and independence,” stated Kevin Tully, Board President, Living Resources.
