High School Students Offered College Courses at No Cost this Summer

April 28, 2025

Hudson Valley Community College is once again offering rising high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take college-level courses at no cost this summer. Students may choose from nearly 75 credit-bearing courses through the College in the High School program running from July 7 to Aug. 14.

Through a college scholarship, all participating students will have 100% of their tuition and fees covered, and textbooks will be provided for free. The scholarship covers up to eight credits per student, allowing them to get a head start on their college education while saving money and gaining valuable academic experience.

Classes are taught by Hudson Valley faculty members, and successful students will be able to apply the credit they earn at Hudson Valley and hundreds of other colleges and universities. The same incentive has been offered each summer since 2021, and more than 3,500 students from around the Capital Region have taken advantage of the opportunity so far.

Summer 2025 offerings include courses in art, business, biology, chemistry, computer science, criminal justice, civil engineering, economics, education, English, history, math, physical education, political science, psychology, sociology and Spanish.

The majority of this summer’s College in the High School courses will be offered in an online or remote learning format. Additional courses will be taught in person at LaSalle Institute and Troy High School.

This year, College in the High School students will also have access to the new "Blueprint for Success" webinar series, developed to support students through every step of enrollment in the program. This "how-to" guide helps students understand how to create an account and request course registration.

Hudson Valley’s College in the High School program has offered hundreds of college-level, credit-bearing courses to more than 37 partner high schools and school districts for decades. Scholarships are available for fall, spring and full-year courses.

“Hudson Valley Community College is proud to once again provide this outstanding opportunity for high school students,” said Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “Our College in the High School program offers a valuable head start on college—completely free of charge. These courses not only help students earn college credit early, but also give them the chance to explore academic interests, build confidence, and strengthen their college applications.”

Registration for Summer 2025 is going on now and will remain open until June 23. For more information, visit www.hvcc.edu/highschool or contact Hudson Valley’s College in the High School office at (518) 629-8164 or cihs@hvcc.edu
