Hudson Valley and SUNY Oneonta Forge Dual Admission Partnership to Expand Student Transfer Opportunities
October 21, 2025

Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Oneonta held an event on October 20 on HVCC’s campus in Troy to announce a new dual enrollment partnership to increase transfer success.
Hudson Valley and SUNY Oneonta have collaborated through programmatic agreements in the past, but the comprehensive Dual Admission Agreement establishes a formal partnership that strengthens educational pathways between the two schools. The SUNY-to-SUNY partnership is built on a shared commitment to fostering academic excellence, providing a seamless student transfer experience, and supporting students in their timely completion of bachelor’s degree programs.
Through the agreement, one application allows students a clear path to degree attainment at Oneonta from the time they enroll at Hudson Valley through one of 25 program-to-program pathways across the schools of Health Science, Business and Liberal Arts, and STEM. These pathways enable students to begin their education at Hudson Valley, complete their associate degree, and then transition smoothly to SUNY Oneonta—whether online or at the main campus. Students can also opt into the agreement at any point during their time at Hudson Valley.
“We are excited to finalize a dual admission partnership between Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Oneonta that was created with students’ needs first and foremost,” says SUNY Oneonta President Alberto Cardelle. “This new pathway to transfer from HVCC to the SUNY Oneonta campus will save students money and time, so that they can access individualized information and support along every step of their successful journey to graduation.”
“Partnerships like this one are critically important to help students envision a clear path to the future from the time they begin their journey in higher education,” said Hudson Valley Community College President Dr. Michael Brophy. “Today’s agreement will help students plan their academic futures with the support and resources they need to save time and money as they transfer from Hudson Valley to Oneonta, and help ensure they are successful in reaching their academic goals.”
