Emergency Funding

Emergency funds made available through the federal CARES Act, SEOG program and the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation aim to help students who encounter short-term financial emergencies due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CARES Act & HEERF: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hudson Valley Community College transitioned all courses to a remote delivery format on March 30, 2020. The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act authorizes institutions to award emergency grants to students for their allowable expenses that are related to the disruption of campus operations.

Allowable expenses must be related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. They include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, child care and transportation.

Eligible HVCC students include those who were enrolled in credit-bearing courses (and not exclusively online) at the college during the Spring 2020 semester, have filed a 2019/2020 FAFSA, and are deemed to be eligible for federal student aid. Students who have not previously completed a FAFSA are encouraged to file a 2019/2020 FAFSA application immediately.
NOTE: Students who do not meet this eligibility may still qualify for funding through the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Student Emergency Fund.
