Teacher Preparation
New Students
All new students enrolled in the Teacher Preparation Department programs need to schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor in the Liberal Arts and General Studies Advisement Center to select their courses for the first semester. Please call (518) 629-7219 to schedule an appointment.
New students also are required to attend New Student Orientation prior to the start of classes, either before or after their academic advisement appointment.
Returning and Transfer Students
Academic advisement for the Teacher Preparation Department's degree and certificate programs is available through the Liberal Arts and General Studies Advisement Center. Students seeking advisement may call to make an appointment, (518) 629-7219.
You may elect to arrange your own schedule for the term online using WIReD after meeting with an advisor to discuss your schedule and course choices. However, you must schedule all of your student teaching courses with an academic advisor. All students are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment and to ensure obtaining a seat in your required courses.
NOTE: Teacher Preparation Department Chairperson Antoinette Howard also is available to discuss your educational goals if you have questions or concerns. Her office is located in Higbee Hall, room 109 or you may call (518) 629-7250 or email a.howard@hvcc.edu.
