Christa Donner - The Makings of Mutualism at The Teaching Gallery
Christa Donner - The Makings of Mutualism, an exhibition that addresses issues of biology, media and identity by examining the concepts of self, body and social roles, was on view from Jan. 27 to March 9, 2011 in the Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College.

Founded in 2001, the Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College presents work in all media by professional artists for both the campus and regional communities. Annual student exhibitions, visiting artist talks and performances complete the programming. Located in the award-winning Administration Building, the two-story, 2000-square-foot gallery is a central location for students of Gallery Management classes to learn the theories and practices of gallery management, exhibition development and artist relations.

Gallery exhibitions are supported by the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Broadcast Communications, with assistance from the Office of Cultural Affairs. All exhibitions are installed and assisted by students in Gallery Management classes.

Founding Director and artist Tara Fracalossi, is an assistant professor in Gallery Management classes and the Fine Arts program. Her work has been exhibited extensively and is represented by Masters & Pelavin Gallery, NY. She received a Museumwise Award of Merit for Individual Achievement, for her work with the Teaching Gallery over the past decade.
