Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies

The Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies Department offers programs and courses that prepare you for a wide range of skilled technology careers and provides up-to-date training labs and equipment for hands-on experience.

Programs

The department offers the following degree and certificate programs:

Automotive Management A.A.S.
Designed to accommodate students interested in the automotive field who would also like to work in a supervisory or management role, coursework in this program develops skills in management, marketing and sales as well as technical skills in selected automotive maintenance and repair areas. Graduates will be qualified to pursue management positions at dealerships or in privately-run service and repair shops.

Automotive Technical Services A.O.S.
Enter the automotive repair field with a broad-based knowledge of current diagnostic and repair skills. You will learn the skills necessary to service new computerized controls, new fuel delivery systems and power train designs. Classroom and laboratory experience provide a strong theoretical background and the hands-on experience to diagnose and overhaul all automotive system components.

Graduates of this program may choose to continue their education at a four year-college. Most graduates enter the workforce directly after graduation.

Automotive Technical Services-Autobody Repair A.O.S.
This degree program will teach you all phases of repairing damaged unibody vehicles and related components, including unibody alignment. Students also will develop skills in all phases of welding; metal straightening by hammering; smoothing areas by filling, grinding or sanding; refinishing and replacing body parts and components; and principles of autobody estimation.

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation.

Computer Aided Drafting Certificate
This certificate program is an intensive, one-year training program that prepares you to obtain an entry-level position in the field of computer aided drafting and design. During the fall and spring semesters, you will be enrolled in 12 courses, gaining in-depth knowledge of the leading CAD software packages. During the spring semester you will actively participate in selecting an internship site for your six-week summer practicum.

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation.

Electrical Engineering Technology-Electronics A.A.S.
The Electrical Engineering Technology - Electronics degree is designed to meet the demand for employees with electronics skills. You will learn electrical and electronic theories and how to apply those theories in a laboratory setting.

Program graduates work in the electronics field as technicians or in a variety of testing and manufacturing careers. Graduates may choose to enter the workforce or continue their education at a four year-college.

The program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Commission (ETAC) of ABET.

Electrical Technology: Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology A.A.S.
The Electrical Technology - Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology degree prepares students to enter emerging fields such as semiconductor fabrication, micro-electro-mechanical systems and nanotechnology. You will benefit from both classroom education and hands-on instruction.

Graduates may choose to enter the workforce or continue their education at a four year-college. Many of the core courses are taught at the TEC-SMART facility in Malta, which is located adjacent to the GlobalFoundries fabrication plant.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology A.O.S.
The Advanced Manufacturing Technology degree program provides you with the skills for a career centered on precision metal, composite and plastic fabrication. Using computers and other advanced manufacturing technology, you will gain a solid foundation to start you career in precision manufacturing.

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation.

Semiconductor Technology Certificate
Students in the Semiconductor Technology certificate receive highly specialized training in semiconductor and nanotechnology, digital electronics, electro-mechanical devices, semiconductor manufacturing and the nanofabrication processes.

Students entering the certificate program generally have already completed a large number of college-level courses in mathematics, electricity and electronics. The college also offers a Electrical Technology: Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology A.A.S. degree program for those students who may not have the prerequisites to enter the certificate program.

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation. Some students who complete the Electrical Engineering Technology-Electronics A.A.S. degree continue on to complete this certificate.

Senior Automotive Lab

The senior automotive lab allows students in the Automotive Technical Services A.O.S. to gain hands-on diagnostic and repair experience. Faculty, staff, students and alumni may take advantage of the services offered at the automotive lab.

Academic Advisement
