Placement Testing

In order to ensure that every student has the greatest chance for academic success at Hudson Valley Community College, entering matriculated students are required to take basic skills placement tests in writing, reading and mathematics. Test results are used to aid academic advisors as they help students plan their educational programs at Hudson Valley. Not all students are required to take the placement test. Upon admission to the college, Admissions office personnel, using waiver criteria, determine whether a student is required to take the placement test.

Placement tests are generally given most weekdays and periodically on an evening or a Saturday.
ALL STUDENTS MUST PRESENT A PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO TAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST.
