President Obama's Visit

President Obama
 visits with studentsPresident Barack Obama visited Hudson Valley Community College on Monday, Sept. 21, to laud the the college for taking a lead role in helping rebuild the regional economy.

The President praised the college for creating new training programs in the green technology fields – including solar panel installation, energy efficiency training and the new TEC-SMART training facility, which will be located in Malta, near the GlobalFoundries chip fabrication plant.

The President toured several technology labs and chatted with students about their studies before speaking to approximately 300 students, college staff members and local dignitaries in the college’s senior automotive lab.

Obama was accompanied by Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden. Dr. Biden is an English professor at a Washington, D.C. area community college. Three-Week Winter Intersession Courses Start Dec. 28

Students can choose from 11 courses offered during winter intersession in a condensed three-week format beginning Dec. 28 and running through Jan. 14. View the registration calendar and course offerings.

For more information about these courses, contact the Office of Continuing Education, Summer Sessions and Workforce Development at (518) 629-7338. Register for a course by Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Football Team Earns NFC Honors; Winter Season in Swing

Oji FaganHudson Valley’s Oji Fagan earned year-end co-Coach of the Year honors from the Northeast Football Conference after his team wrapped up the regular season with a 30-24 victory over Navy Prep on Nov. 7. Several players were also honored to the NFC first and second team. Read more.

Foundation Welcomes New Heritage Society Members

The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation welcomed new members to its Heritage Society, which recognizes individuals who have provided, or have made plans to provide, charitable gifts through bequests, trusts and other life income gifts.

Former college employees Anne Morgan and Marie Stasiak, along with current employee Doug Baldrey, were welcomed to the society at a dinner held Thursday, Oct. 15 at Crowne Plaza in Albany. More..
