“The bad boy of cuisine” visits campus

Anthony Bourdain, the host of the popular Travel Channel series, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, recently visited the campus and shared his experiences traveling the globe and sampling the world's culture. He described his adventures and misadventures on his voyages, during which he sampled the still-beating heart of a live cobra, dined with gangsters in Russia, and returned to his roots in the tiny fishing village of La Teste, France, where he first ate an oyster as a child. After his lecture Bourdain sampled some of our local delicacies from area restaurants.

A 2007 graduate of Averill Park High School, Kate is one of many students who serve as tour guides, sharing their knowledge of the campus and experiences with accepted and prospective students. Here, she shares some thoughts about her Hudson Valley experience.

Why did you enroll at Hudson Valley? I came to Hudson Valley Community College because I wanted to live at home while attending college and the tuition is inexpensive. They had the major I wanted to study.

What do you like best? I love Hudson Valley Community College because  the size of the campus was just right for me and the people on campus are very welcoming.

What is your goal? I want to transfer into a four-year bachelor's program in business and become a pharmaceutical representative.
