Tour Guide Portia Davis '08|
Biotechnology program, Class of
A native of Ghana who graduated from South
Colonie High School, Portia is one of a dozen students who
volunteer as tour guides, sharing their knowledge of the
campus and experiences with accepted and prospective students.
Here, she shares some thoughts about her Hudson Valley
Why did you enroll at Hudson
Valley? I came to Hudson Valley because of the low
cost and the small learning environment (the
student-to-faculty ratio is 20:1).
What do you like
best? I love Hudson Valley because of the resources that
are available to students, including the Learning
Assistance Center for tutoring for math and the Biology
What is your goal? To earn
my associate's degree in Biotechnology
and continue my studies in pre-med at the University at
Portia or one of her fellow tour guides would
