Capital District Educational Opportunity Center Registration Set for Day and Evening Classes

The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center is now holding registration for day and evening classes, which will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at both its Troy facility at 145 Congress Street and its Albany facility at 30 Russell Road, Westgate Shopping Center.

The EOC offers a wide array of vocational programs including building trades, welding, cosmetology, culinary arts, nursing assistant, and a number of general and medical business and office technology programs. Many of these programs include nationally recognized certifications.

The center also offers academic programs ranging from Adult Basic Education through College Preparation and includes a General Educational Development (GED) Preparation Program and English as a Second Language. Unique features, including individualized instruction, continuous enrollment, and personal and career support services, are designed so that adults can adapt more easily to their return to school and/or transition to the work force. Since 1966, the Capital District EOC, a division of Hudson Valley Community College, has offered tuition-free academic and workforce development opportunities to economically disadvantaged and educationally under-prepared New York State residents.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
