Pedagogical Perspectives and Student Success Stories

As educators who are deeply committed to access for all students, we recognize the tremendous importance of teaching and connecting with individuals from many different backgrounds, including those who are most in need or underserved and under-resourced in our communities.

These students predominantly comprise those from low-income backgrounds, underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities, first-generation college students, and even latchkey children. As a result, they have a lower participation rate in the K-12 classroom and also in college, and sadly, they are less likely to achieve high levels of academic performance.

In an effort to reverse this trend, please share your perspective, in 500 words or less, for inclusion in a new publication to provide a resource for and inspire both current and new colleagues in education. Please consider sharing your perspective on:

  • best practices for teaching “at-risk” students;
  • reflections on individual achievements;
  • tips for colleagues in the field;
  • and strategies for uplifting students facing challenges and obstacles to student success.
