Tangled Strings
Guitarist Django Klumpp and harpist Sunshine Quan have been weaving intricate musical textures since 2022, when they were both students at the Eastman School of Music. Together, they showcase lesser-known composers and works written for their unique duo.
Django Klumpp is a versatile musician who has captivated audiences across the United States and internationally. He is known for his “soulful and sensitive” playing, as well as his technical command, praised for “rapid fingers, extended technique and the ability to display several layers of sound at the same time” (Mansfield University’s The Flashlight).
Chinese Canadian harpist Sunshine Quan has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, Binghamton Philharmonic, New York State Ballet and ensembles at Eastman, SUNY Fredonia, Nazareth College and Roberts Wesleyan College. She received a National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Her musical journey has taken her across North America, China and Spain, where she toured with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra. Quan also plays the Chinese guzheng and is an active performer of traditional Chinese music.
