Annual Louis Coplin Community Day

Hudson Valley Community College proudly hosts the annual Louis Coplin Community Day, celebrating the 39-year career (1986-2025) of former student affairs administrator Louis Coplin. Throughout his tenure, Coplin served as EOP director, director of student life, vice president for student affairs and officer in charge, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students, colleagues and community members.

This year’s celebration will honor the 2026 Louis Coplin Community Award recipient, Associate Professor Kate A. Rodriguez. The award recognizes a community member or college employee whose dedication, professionalism, humility and collaborative spirit exemplify Coplin’s legacy. Recipients understand the importance of individual effort as well as the collective work needed to strengthen communities and improve the world.

Louis Coplin Community Day features free food, family-friendly activities and an opportunity to meet and congratulate Professor Rodriguez. The evening culminates with a basketball doubleheader as the Vikings host Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
