“Three Mile Island and the Future of Nuclear Power” - David Allard

HVCC welcomes David Allard to campus as part of its Voices: A Library Lecture Series.

David J. Allard’s presentation will explore the Three Mile Island (TMI) nuclear power plant incident, with a focus on radiation protection standards, communication breakdowns, public health and psychological impacts and the ongoing decommissioning process. He will also address broader challenges in the nuclear industry, including radioactive waste management, spent fuel storage and environmental monitoring.

David J. Allard, MS, CHP, FHPS, is a medical health physicist with over 46 years of experience in radiation protection. A nationally and internationally recognized expert, he recently retired after nearly 24 years as Director of the Bureau of Radiation Protection at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. David is an alumnus of HVCC (Class of 1975), SUNY Albany (1977) and UMass Lowell (1984).
