Hispanic Heritage Month with Rosa Clemente

Black Puerto Rican Resistance: Latinidad, Liberation, and the Power of Cultural Rebellion
Latinidad often claims to celebrate diversity, but too often, it erases Blackness. In this powerful keynote, Rosa Clemente, Afro-Puerto Rican scholar, activist and cultural critic—confronts that erasure head-on while illuminating the long arc of Black Puerto Rican resistance across centuries of colonial violence, capitalist exploitation, and internalized anti-Blackness.

In this moment of cultural awakening, Clemente explores how artists like Bad Bunny are turning global platforms into vehicles for political education and resistance. They challenge sanitized narratives of Puerto Rican identity and reigniting a mass movement for sovereignty, dignity and Black self-determination.

There will also be time for audience discussion and Q&A. Refreshments will be provided.
