Shakespeare & Company present Macbeth

The renowned Shakespeare & Company of Lenox, MA, presents “Macbeth,” the classic tragedy that dramatizes the physical and psychological damage caused by the political ambition of those who seek power for its own sake.

The performance is a highlight of the company’s week-long residency – now in its 14th year – with students enrolled in HVCC’s Theatre Arts Program that includes a variety of workshops guided by the professional actors.

“Macbeth” is part of the troupe’s Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare that brings rotating plays to schools, colleges and other community venues. Begun in 1982, the touring productions now reach more than 20,000 audience members each year to perpetuate the company’s educational mission to “immerse students in the world of Shakespeare and classical theatre in the most active and engaging ways.”

This free, 90-minute, public performance coincides with the winter vacation week observed by most K-12 schools. A brief audience Q&A follows the performance.
