CASAC-T Educational Core III (Microcredential)

The CASAC-T is the recognized credential for those who wish to work in New York State as a substance abuse counselor.

This is the third and final microcredential required for individuals to complete the core educational components by OASAS to receive their CASAC-T. The final credential focuses on special areas of treatment and assessment. A second internship with the successful completion of 168 field hours in an approved OASAS facility and seminar are also required.

Additionally, this credential focuses on working with diverse populations and understanding the social and cultural norms associated with addictions.

Credits earned in this microcredential are stackable to the following programs:

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to describe/explain the various adjustments made in the treatment process when working with clients from diverse backgrounds. In addition, students will be able to able to identify specific cultural characteristics related to addictions.
