The Biology, Chemistry and Physics (BCP) Department at Hudson Valley Community College spans the life sciences and physical sciences.

The BCP department oversees the following degree and certificates offerings: Biological Sciences A.S., Biotechnology A.S., Biotechnology Certificate, Chemical Technician A.S. (deactivated), Environmental Science A.S. and Physical Sciences A.S. with tracks in biology, chemistry and physics.

Most of the biology, chemistry and physics course offerings include the important experience of the guided laboratory and small group sessions. Many are available partially or entirely online and in the evening.

In collaboration with the Department of Math and Engineering Science and many of the technology programs, the BCP department provides general education courses appropriate for career and transfer. Some courses provide an interdisciplinary approach to the study of physics.

Opened in 2013, the Science Center is home to the BCP department. This silver LEED-certified building serves the campus community with courses suitable for both science and non-science majors. Also located in the Science Center, the welcoming atmosphere of the Science Study Center gives students a place to collaborate and get help with their science coursework. A functioning greenhouse for interdisciplinary science study will open in Fall 2015.

As of Spring 2015, the department's dedicated faculty include 32 with Ph.D. degrees and 14 who have received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
