Degree and Certificate Programs
The Natural and Applied Sciences Department offers several certificate and degree programs.
Biological Sciences A.S.
In order to meet the growing demands for biological and health science training, this program will prepare you to continue your education in a biological sciences discipline and ultimately pursue a related career.
Biotechnology A.S.
Recognizing the growing need for individuals skilled in techniques of biotechnology, this program offers a curriculum designed to address the interdisciplinary nature of this field.
Biotechnology Certificate
This certificate offers the advanced biology student specialized training in applied techniques of cell culture, immunology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, biological imaging and analytical cytology. It also serves to provide an opportunity for those individuals with a science background to receive advanced training in biotechnology.
Environmental Science A.S.
The program prepares you to continue your education in an environmental discipline and ultimately pursue a related career.
Forensic Science Studies A.S.
Addressing the interdisciplinary nature of forensic science (the application of science to the criminal justice system), this course of study focuses heavily on criminal justice and the sciences. The graduate will have an opportunity to transfer seamlessly to John Jay College of Criminal Justice, one of the world's forensic science leaders.
Healthcare and Medical Science Preparation Certificate
This three-semester program builds a strong science foundation with a focus on real-world medical topics and exam prep. It prepares you to enter into medical, dental, veterinary, pharmacy, optometry, chiropractic, physical therapy, physician assistant, and other advanced health care programs.
Physical Sciences A.S.
This program provides a unique curriculum for those who wish to pursue advanced education in chemistry, physics or earth science. The curriculum offers core courses in the physical sciences, as well as additional electives that meet general education requirements for the liberal arts, in preparation for transfer to a four-year school.
