Student Honors and Awards Ceremony: 6 - 8 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex
This ceremony recognizes the college's highest achieving graduates who have earned a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or above, as well as special award recipients. Invited students, their guests, and faculty and staff may attend. Students must wear their academic regalia (cap and gown) and check in by 5 p.m. at the Conway Ice Rink in the McDonough Sports Complex. Award recipients not graduating should wear business casual attire. Guests should arrive prior to the start of the 6 p.m. ceremony and be seated in the field house. There is no limit to the number of guests who may attend. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Call (518) 629-7307 for more information.

64th Annual Commencement Ceremony in the McDonough Sports Complex
Doors open in the main ceremony area and overflow viewing areas to family/guests at 7:30 a.m.
Graduates assemble in the McDonough Sports Complex lobby at 7:30 a.m.
Procession begins at 8:45 a.m.
Each graduate was issued up to five tickets (three green; two white).
- With the ceremony being moved to the McDonough Sports Complex:
- Three green tickets allow access to the main ceremony area in the McDonough Sports Complex, field house.
- Two white tickets allow access to overflow viewing areas on campus where the ceremony is shown on video. These include the Conway Ice Rink (located in the McDonough Sports Complex), the Maureen Stapleton Theatre (located in the Siek Campus Center), Bulmer Telecommunications Center auditorium and meeting rooms, and Fitzgibbons Health Technologies Center lecture hall (room 100).

Hosted by news anchor and Hudson Valley alumnus John Gray, Commencement will be broadcast LIVE online and on Spectrum channel 1301 in the Capital Region (except in Glens Falls and Schenectady where the TV broadcast is unavailable) from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Post-Commencement Celebration: 11:30 a.m. in the Conway Ice Rink (located in the McDonough Sports Complex)
Graduates and guests are invited to attend a reception immediately following the Commencement ceremony.
The college's Commencement ceremony will highlight the diverse and remarkable achievements of approximately 2,000 Hudson Valley Community College graduates.
Seating will be organized by division (Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences). Each graduate will be individually announced and congratulated by President Drew Matonak. Graduates must then return to their seats for the duration of the ceremony.
Degree candidates must wear a cap and gown in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Appropriate attire under the cap and gown is expected. (Jeans, shorts and sneakers are not considered appropriate.) Flat shoes are recommended.

Degree candidates will receive their diploma covers, commencement programs and an alumni pin at the ceremony. Official diplomas will be mailed approximately four to six weeks after Commencement. Graduates who prefer to pick up their diplomas in person should call the Registrar's Office at (518) 629-4574 or email their request to email@example.com from their Hudson Valley student email account.
The Student Honors and Awards Ceremony as well as Commencement are formal ceremonies. Inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Forms of distraction, such as noisemakers, beach balls, liquid string, bubbles and inappropriately altered regalia (cap and gown) are not permitted. Cell phones must be silenced during the ceremony. Graduates are not permitted to take selfies onstage.
The college has contracted with Island Photography to take photos of graduating students and award recipients at the Student Honors and Awards and Commencement ceremonies.
Registering with Island Photography provides the information needed to deliver photo proofs within three to five days after graduation. You also may provide an email address of up to six friends and family members to receive photos. Pictures may be ordered online, by phone or mail. Refreshments and Items for Sale
Refreshments are provided at no cost until 8:45 a.m. Food and beverages will also be sold in the McDonough Sports Complex lobby. Flowers and college bookstore commemorative items will be available for purchase in the McDonough Sports Complex lobby.
Senior Gift Campaign
The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation invites graduates to contribute to the annual campaign supporting scholarships, academic program enrichments and campus improvements. Graduates and their family and friends are asked to consider a gift of $20.18 to the Senior Gift Campaign.
Public Safety/Health Services
College Public Safety officers, local law enforcement, nurses and an ambulance with medical staff will be on site in case of an emergency. If such an event occurs, please immediately locate an usher or call Public Safety at (518) 629-7210.
Directions, Campus Map and Parking
Parking in the garage and all lots is available without permit. It is recommended that guests arrive no later than 8 a.m. for Commencement to allow time for walking to the McDonough Sports Complex and overflow areas. [Campus Map and Directions]
Individuals with Disabilities
The McDonough Sports Complex is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Individuals with special needs, including the need for an interpreter, should contact the Center for Access and Assistive Technology, at (518) 629-7154 or TDD (518) 629-7596 at least two weeks in advance. Degree candidates requiring seating for individuals with disabilities must request tickets on cap/gown and ticket distribution days.
