and a valid Hudson Valley ID (or photo driver's license). Caps and gowns will not be distributed at rehearsal or at Commencement. Those requiring seating at Commencement for individuals with disabilities must make the request during this time.

Rehearsal for Student Honors and Awards Ceremony in McDonough Sports Complex
Required for students, faculty and staff planning to participate in the Student Honors and Awards Ceremony.
Friday, May 13
Rehearsal for Commencement Ceremony: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Students should assemble in the G-lot, located behind McDonough Sports Complex
Required for students participating in the Commencement ceremony. Learn about the components of the ceremony and expectations for decorum, lining up, processing and recessing.
Year-end Party at the Student Pavilion: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
A Year-End Party for all graduating students will be held at the Student Pavilion immediately following Commencement rehearsal. The event will include music, food and beverages.
Student Honors and Awards Ceremony in the McDonough Sports Complex: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
This ceremony recognizes the college's highest achieving graduates who have earned a G.P.A. of 3.5 or above as well as special award recipients. Invited students and their guests are welcome to attend this special event. Tickets are not required. Students must wear their academic honors regalia to the ceremony.
Saturday, May 14
62nd Annual Commencement Ceremony in the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium
Doors open to family/guests at 7:30 a.m.
Graduates assemble in the G-lot, located behind McDonough Sports Complex at 7:30 a.m.
Procession begins at 8:45 a.m.
Post-Commencement Celebration at the Student Pavilion at 11:30 a.m.
Graduates and guests are invited to attend a reception immediately following the Commencement Ceremony.
The Commencement Ceremony will highlight the diverse and remarkable achievements of more than 2,000 Hudson Valley Community College graduates. Students must have submitted a completed degree application to the Registrar's Office by 5 p.m. Thursday, March 31 to be eligible to participate in Commencement.
Seating will be organized by division (Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences). Each graduate will be individually announced and congratulated by President Drew Matonak. Graduates must then return to their seats for the duration of the ceremony.
The ceremony held outdoors in the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. However, in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the McDonough Sports Complex, where seats will be allocated in the main ceremony area and in over-flow viewing areas.
Tickets will be issued as follows:
- Each graduate will receive five tickets.
- three green tickets
- two white tickets
- Both green and white tickets allow access to the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
- In the event of inclement weather and the ceremony is moved to the Sports Complex,
- green tickets allow access to the main ceremony area.
- white tickets allow access to the over-flow viewing areas, where the ceremony is shown on video.

Degree candidates must wear a cap and gown in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Appropriate attire under the cap and gown is expected. (Jeans, shorts and sneakers are not considered appropriate.) Flat shoes are recommended for walking on the ball field.
Live Video Stream and Televised Coverage
Hosted by news anchor and Hudson Valley alumnus John Gray, Commencement will be broadcast live here and on Capital Region Time Warner Cable Channel 18 (except in Bethlehem, Delmar, Scotia and Schenectady where the TV broadcast is unavailable) from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
DVD recordings of the Commencement ceremony and/or the Student Honors and Awards ceremony may be ordered for $15 each. Order online below in advance or at either ceremony. Degree candidates will receive diploma covers at the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed approximately four to six weeks after Commencement. Graduates who prefer to pick up their diplomas in person should call the Registrar's Office at (518) 629-4574.
The Student Honors and Awards Ceremony as well as Commencement are formal ceremonies. Inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Forms of distraction, such as noisemakers, beach balls, liquid string, bubbles and inappropriately altered regalia are not permitted. Cell phones must be silenced during the ceremony.

Registering your graduate with GradImages
provides them with the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner. Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try. You may also provide them with email addresses of up to six friends and family members to allow them to celebrate in the accomplishment.
Refreshments and Items for Sale
Refreshments are provided at no cost until 8:45 a.m. at the first baseline pavilion. Stadium concessions will sell various food items and beverages after that time. Flowers by Frank Gallo & Son Florist and commemorative items also will be sold on site. A dozen roses will be sold for $30; half dozen for $20; assorted bouquet, $25.
Senior Gift Campaign
The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation invites graduates to contribute to the annual campaign supporting scholarships, academic program enrichments and campus improvements. Graduates and their family and friends are asked to consider a gift of $20.16 to the Senior Gift Campaign
Individuals with Disabilities
Joseph L. Bruno Stadium and the McDonough Sports Complex are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Individuals with special needs, including the need for an interpreter, should contact the Center for Access and Assistive Technology, at (518) 629-7154 or TDD (518) 629-7596 at least two weeks in advance.
Public Safety/Health Services
College Public Safety officers, local law enforcement, nurses and an ambulance with medical staff will be on site in case of an emergency. If such an event occurs, please immediately locate an usher or call Public Safety at (518) 629-7210.
Directions, Campus Map and Parking
Parking in the garage and all lots is available without permit. It is recommended that guests arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. for Commencement to allow time for walking to the stadium and locating seats. [Campus Map and Directions
Inclement Weather Policy
Student will receive three green tickets and two white tickets. Both allow access to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. If inclement weather requires the college to relocate the ceremony to the McDonough Sports Complex, green tickets will provide access to the ceremony. White tickets will permit access to overflow areas where the ceremony will be broadcast on video.
