Rensselaer Resident Zachary Yannone Receives SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service

Zachary YannoneZachary Yannone of Rensselaer was recently honored with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

As director of institutional services and events at Hudson Valley Community College, Yannone is responsible for a huge number of events that the college hosts every year. He oversees large events such as the annual Garden and Flower Show, CASDA College Fairs and NYSPHSAA Girls Basketball Tournament as well as dozens of other meetings and gatherings for outside organizations. He was noted for his ability to maintain a high level of customer service as well as an unflappable professionalism.

Ten additional faculty and staff members of the Troy college were named recipients of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence for 2015. Instituted in 1972 by the State University of New York, the Chancellor's Award recognizes exceptional contributions to the university by dedicated professionals. Since its inception, 154 faculty and staff members from Hudson Valley Community College have received the Chancellor's Award.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
