Clifton Park Resident Jeffrey McMinn Receives SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching

Jeffrey McMinn, a faculty member in the Dental Hygiene Department at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently honored with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.

A practicing dental hygienist, McMinn began teaching at the college in 2005, and has been an integral part of the clinical faculty of the Dental Hygiene program since then. He was recognized by students and fellow faculty members as a teacher who is constantly looking for new ways to facilitate student success.

Eight additional faculty and staff members of the Troy college were named recipients of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence for 2014. Instituted in 1972 by the State University of New York, the Chancellor's Award recognizes exceptional contributions to the university by dedicated professionals. Since its inception, 148 faculty and staff members from Hudson Valley Community College have received the Chancellor's Award.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
