Hudson Valley Community College Schedules Information Session For Learning

The Learning Assistance Center at Hudson Valley Community College has scheduled three information sessions for prospective students with learning disabilities and their parents/guardians. At those sessions, the college's Learning Disabilities Specialist will provide information to make the transition from high school to college as smooth as possible.
The sessions are targeted to incoming first-year students who have attention deficit disorders or learning disabilities.
The sessions, to be held on the college's Troy campus, are scheduled for April 3, May 1 and June 5 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Marvin Library multi-purpose room. Registration is requested by calling Katherine Jetter at 629-7552.
Hudson Valley Community College serves more than 300 students with disabilities each year, and has gained a national reputation for serving the disabled. As a result of overwhelming interest in the services and accommodations available to students with learning disabilities, these sessions have been scheduled to provide information on services,
review the procedures for registering for those services, and provide tips for preparing for college.
The Learning Assistance Center provides comprehensive academic support to help students achieve their educational goals. The center's services, which include tutoring and special support in math, writing, reading and study skills, as well as support services for students with learning disabilities, are available to both full- and part-time students.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
