Hudson Valley Community College Senior Named Student Marketer of the Year by Local AMA Chapter

John E. Aubrey of Clifton Park, a student at Hudson Valley Community College, was one of several local college students named "Marketing Student of the Year" by the local chapter of the American Marketing Association during the organization's April meeting.

Aubrey will graduate in May with a degree in Marketing. He is a President's List student and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges. He plans to continue his education and also pursue a career in sales.

"We are proud to have students such as John recognized by the area's professional organizations," said Hudson Valley President John Buono. "Based on his academic record and his interest in sales and marketing, John is the perfect candidate for such an award. He has a bright future."

Aubrey was recognized at the American Marketing Association meeting, Monday, April 24, at the Albany Marriott. He was one of several area college marketing students who were honored at the event. Aubrey was nominated by Professor M. Terri Pennisi of the Marketing department faculty.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. The American Marketing Association is the world's largest and most comprehensive professional society of marketers, consisting of nearly 50,000 worldwide members in 92 countries and 500 chapters throughout North America. The New York Capital Region Chapter, covering a 12-county area from the Adirondacks to the Hudson Valley, has more than 300 members.
