Students at Hudson Valley Community College with an interest in international business have a new transfer option. The college recently signed an agreement with Yonok College, located in the north Thailand city of Lampang.

"We are very pleased with this new association and we hope our students will take advantage of the opportunity," said Hudson Valley Community College President John Buono. "Yonok College has made a real effort to reach out to quality community colleges in the United States and recruit transfer students. This is a unique cultural opportunity for our students."

Yonok College provides a Bachelor of Business Administration degree taught completely in English. Students who have earned an associate's degree in business administration at Hudson Valley may transfer their credits to the Lampang college and complete a bachelor's degree in two additional years.

Last year, Hudson Valley Community College signed a transfer agreement with another Asian college - ECC Kokusai School of Languages in Osaka, Japan. That agreement allows Japanese students to complete a year of study in their native country and then finish an associate's degree at Hudson Valley.

"For years, Hudson Valley has had a steady number of international students," Buono said. "We would like to increase the opportunity for foreign students to come here and expand the options for our students to travel abroad. At Yonok, students will be taught in English, but they will be immersed in the language and culture of one of the world's fastest growing countries."

More than 40 percent of Hudson Valley Community College graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The college maintains academic transfer agreements with more than 30 colleges and universities around the state, country and world.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation.
