Rensselaer Student Lee Rappold Honored by Hudson Valley Community College

Lee Rappold of Rensselaer, a 2009 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Mortuary Science program, was honored by the college with a departmental award.
Rappold received the Outstanding Achievement and Academic Excellence in Restorative Art, which is given to an outstanding graduate of the Mortuary Science program. A President\'s and Dean\'s list student, Rappold is seeking a residency at a local funeral home and preparing for the national board exam. She was a student member of the NYS Funeral Directors Association, Inc. and a presidential member of the Sigma Alph Phi National Society of Leadership and Success. The mother of a 7-year-old, she also worked full-time while attending college.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
