FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008

With Hudson Valley Community College's School Vacation Programs, the February school holiday can be an opportunity for your child to discover a new interest and stay active.

The college will offer two week-long programs for children ages nine to 14 during the school break, which runs February 18-22.

"Fit Kids" offers up a combination of activities in a motivating, supportive and non-competitive atmosphere. Activities include adventure training, ice skating, CPR training and a variety of other indoor activities designed to promote overall fitness and healthy eating habits.

The college's "Youth Theater Workshop" takes participants through the entire process of producing a musical theater piece, from creating the characters, writing the songs and, finally, rehearsing and performing in the final production. Whether your child is interested in working on stage or behind the scenes, there's a place for them at the Youth Theater Workshop.

Both Fit Kids and Youth Theater Workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, but counseling staff will provide supervision from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 4 p.m. for those students who arrive early and stay late.

The cost of each program is $215 for the week.
