Guilderland Student Caitlin Frakes Honored by Hudson Valley Community College

Caitlin Frakes of Guilderland, a 2007 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Criminal Justice program, was recently honored by the college.
Frakes received the Paul N. Luther Memorial Scholarship, which is given to an outstanding graduate of the Criminal Justice program.
A high honor student, she plans to enter the Law and Society degree program at Sage College of Albany this fall. Frakes was a recipient of the Presidential Honors Scholarship, which provides full tuition for outstanding incoming freshman. She also was recognized for excellence in research by the History, Philosophy and Social Science Department and the Marvin Library. Frakes was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for students in two-year colleges and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
