Integrating Arts into Childhood Education Is Topic of May 22 Workshop at Hudson Valley Community College

Integrating the arts throughout the elementary and secondary school curriculum will be the topic of a free two-hour workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at Hudson Valley Community College’s Bulmer Telecommunications Center.
The workshop will bring together parents, teachers and school administrators to discuss how the arts can be used as a powerful teaching tool in a variety of curriculum areas. Experts from some of the area’s most respected arts entities – the Tang Teaching Museum, New York State Theatre Institute, and the Albany Institute of History and Art – will present at the workshop.
Individual schools may send teams of teachers, administrators and parents. Participants signing up as a school team will be entered in a drawing for two free artist residencies valued at $1,000.
Arts activities for pre-school through middle school-aged children will be provided during the workshop by the Tang Teaching Museum, The Albany institute of History and Art and Capital Repertory Theatre.
